Special events in honor of Marthe Reed:
On April 10th, Poet and Publisher Marthe Reed who was a great contributor to the New Orleans Poetry Fest, passed away quite suddenly and unexpectedly. We are dedicating the 2018 New Orleans Poetry Festival to her and her work. She was one of our lunch time features this year, and we will be dedicating that time to reading her work. We will also be doing a second line from the Healing Center to Siberia beginning at 6:30 in the lobby of the Healing Center on Saturday. We will walk as a group to the night event location, Siberia Lounge, pausing along the way to also share her work. There will be a limited number of commemorative broadsides available at the Black Radish Table where we will be accepting donations to go towards one of the many causes dear to her heart. There will also be Marthe's books offered at a low cost from her publisher Lavender Ink. The Black Radish table and reading will still happen. The reading is Saturday at 11:10.

Locations: Unless otherwise noted, all events are at the New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 St Claude. Café Istanbul is inside the Healing Center. Siberia Lounge, location of the Saturday night feature, is at 2227 St Claude. Mags is at 940 Elysian Fields. The three venues are walking distance or a short ride apart.

You may arrive as early as 6:30 PM to the opening event Friday night (4/20), for check-in and lanyard distribution. We will have brief opening comments starting promptly at 7, with the reading by Jack Bedell beginning about 7:15.

Note that we have a last-minute addition to the schedule: Poetry Verses Comedy at Mags 940 (940 Elysian Fields) after the opening event Friday, at 10:30 PM.

Panels begin at 9 AM Saturday morning. Bookfair participants may arrive as early as 8 AM to set up.

If your presentation utilizes media, you are encouraged to arrive early to verify the setup. Note that we are only providing a projector if you requested one in your initial proposal, and that we are not providing computers, hookups, adaptors, etc.
