Dr. Tara Betts is the author of Break the Habit and Arc & Hue. She is one of the MFA faculty at Stonecoast – University of Southern Maine. Tara currently works as Lit Editor at Chicago’s Newcity, and serves as Poetry Editor at Another Chicago Magazine and The Langston Hughes Review. As part of two Chicago NPS slam teams and a poet on HBO’s “Def Poetry Jam” and Jessica Care Moore’s “Spoken,” Tara taught younger writers at Urban Word NYC and Young Chicago Authors, where she helped establish Louder Than a Bomb and hosted bouts at Brave New Voices.
