Benjamin Aleshire, street poet, typewriter, poetry

Benjamin Aleshire is based in New Orleans, and travels the world as a poet-for-hire, composing poems for strangers in the street on a manual typewriter. His work has appeared recently or will soon in The Times (UK), LitHub, Iowa Review, Boston Review, and El Mundo (Spain). In 2016 he was a finalist for the Iowa Review Award, and attended the Breadloaf Conference as a waiter-scholar. His artist-book of visual poems, Currency, is available at www.poetforhire.org. Ben serves as assistant poetry editor to the Green Mountains Review, and has received awards from the Vermont Arts Council and the University of New Orleans. IG: @benjamin_aleshire
